My favourite project of the year was the Skills for Making module. Although I lost my first attempt at this project through not backing up my work (something else I learnt from this year) I enjoyed the practical side to this project. The photoshoot was my favourite task in the project because it was hands on and practical. I developed my professional skills in this project by pushing the boundaries to and performing in this fun task as if it was a real life situation. I took my model to get her make up done, arranging full styled outfits and coming up with a really exciting look book for my final piece. This also resulted in a good mark making it all worthwhile.
My least favourite project was the Contextual Studies module. Although I did learn a lot about my two chosen designers I struggled in writing the 1500 word essay. One of my weaker areas is literature and I prefer more creative tasks.
My final Work based learning module was also a project I found difficult. The reason for this was my research was not strong enough to inspire me to come up with a concept I was fully passionate about. I was happy with the final boards and portfolio work that I produced however I would re-think my concept if I got another chance at this project.
Looking at my final feedback sheets from my previous projects I have identified an area to work on for next year to reach the next grade boundary. To improve my research I have been advised to start gathering further primary research to draw out some in depth analysis.
Over the summer I am working on a new project at my current job Topshop/Topman. The plan is to encourage and inspire my team to be fashion role models through a blog I am going to run in my free time. In preparation for this I have researched similar fashion blogs and brain stormed ideas for my up and coming posts. Posts will include best dressed competitions, trend updates and outfit builds. This project came from my own initiative and my team have really got behind me to push this idea forward. I am excited to get the ball rolling with my first post for the team. I also have the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A to look forward too.
