I have been dying to see what all the fuss was about at the Boiler Shop Steamer, Newcastle. Hearing so many impressive reviews about the buzzing atmosphere event and unbelievable food on offer, I thought it was time to check it out for myself. The location of this event was hidden behind central station. An old warehouse converted into a street food wonderland, the open space was abounding with funky food stalls from every different cuisine. The amount of people that showed up to such a hidden event was breath taking. I noticed an older audience of 25s populating the event; Surprising for it being so hip and cool. Taking delight in the live music, bar and company, one couple even started jive dancing in the middle of the crowds. The success of this event has inspired me for my current Work Based Learning Module. All day parties such as this one aimed at an older fashionable market are hugely popular. By turning this class of event and directing it at fashion rather than food I am hoping to come up with a similar concept for my Newcastle Fashion Week fringe event.
