Never in a million years did I think I think I would be spending my day off sat in Richie’s Power Tattoo Studio. Richie is an artistic genius when it comes to tattoos. He is also bonkers in a marvellous way but his creative mind can free style a unique design up within seconds. Thankfully it was not me getting inked today; I just went along for support. I had heard his shop was pretty cool too, and I wanted to have a nosey inside. In the bricked back street his pistachio green shop door was quite a statement. It didn’t give much away but I felt cool going inside. Vibrations from the Kanye West track shook the stair case that lead into a clean white space. It wasn’t your usual minimal. Blocked around the room were chunky, gloss-black skirting board, beams, doors and frames. On a more delicate note, Hundreds of Richie’s detailed stencils were layered onto the walls creating his own personal wallpaper. The way they were arranged around the door looked like they were growing out of shut off room. Richie was also a street brand enthusiast. Even today he was waiting for the Supreme drop to launch so he could add to his head to toe outfit or his limited edition skateboard collection. Proudly arranged on a white wall canvas, the boards were the only pop of vivid colour along with is small inks stand. It was refreshing. The whole ambience of the room would work perfectly for a street wear boutique. |
